What a journey the last couple
of years have been.....
The last year has been nothing
short of incredible. It is hard to put into words and describe in a
short period of time all of our experiences. To think back to our
competitions over the last year, remembering what each victory
meant, and the consequences of each win in the process:
* The first stage of the US
Olympic Trials in January 2005
* The Olympic Trials victory
in February 2005
* The 2005 World Championships
in April 2005 when we secured our place in the Olympics
* The XX Winter Olympic Games
in February 2006
* The 2006 World Championships
in April 2006
Each stage of the Olympic
process was an experience in itself, and has many memories
associated with it. With each of these memories comes a certain
amount of joy and satisfaction in knowing what we have accomplished,
and the work and dedication that it took to get there. A life
changing experience - for sure.
As with each part of our
journey, there comes change. As most of you know, John has left the
team after last season. Looking back on the past 4 years that he has
been with us, we have had a tremendous ride. Three of four national
championships, along with the Olympic experience - a success in most
people's minds. I am sad to see John leave, but wish him the best in
the future.
On the positive side, knowing
our newest team member for many years, and having the opportunity to
curl with Doug in the past has me looking forward to the upcoming
season with a fresh desire to be successful on the curling tour and
again make a run at the national championship.
With that said, the journey
continues....
